Source of Data: The value of the subsidy package and the job projection came from: "State extends Nissan abatements," Murfreesboro Daily News Journal, December 11, 2009. The wage projection was taken from: Scott Broden, "Rutherford board recommends tax break for Nissan," The Tennessean, October 29, 2009.
Notes: The $98 million is the estimated value of a 30-year abatement on the company's planned electric car and battery facilities, for which it also received a federal loan of $1.6 billion. The 2009 abatement represented an expansion of the 30-year PILOT agreement Nissan had received for the original Smyrna plant in 1980 (later extended to 2022). The job projection, which referred to the expected level in 2015, also includes contractor jobs. The main Subsidy Tracker data has a $196,124 entry for the Tennessee Job Skills program for 2012, which is separate from the abatement.
