Notes: On January 25, 2024, the Mississippi legislature approved in a short special session a package of subsidies for a data center complex for an unnamed company. After the deal was approved, AWS was announced as the recipient. The project will be located at two industrial parks in Madison County, north of Jackson and near Canton. The package includes $44 million in direct subsidies, including $32 million for workforce training. The county will borrow $215.1 million from the state to pay for infrastructure improvements. The loan will be paid back by fees that Amazon will pay instead of property tax, constituting a direct subsidy to the company. Amazon will also be exempt from paying income, franchise, and sale and use taxes for 10 years under the data center incentive program and will be exempt from paying sale and use taxes on equipment in perpetuity. Amazon will also benefit from 90% tax exemption on contractor's taxes. The value of tax breaks has not been disclosed. Overlap with main data: none.
