Project Description: The Mackinac County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority will utilize local and state tax capture valued at $464,250 to redevelop approximately 5.4 acres of property located in the City of St. Ignace. The project consists of demolition of a portion of the existing structure on the site and redevelopment of the remaining 20,000 square foot building for commercial use by Beacon Specialized Living Services. The eligible activities that will be undertaken to alleviate brownfield conditions on the property and complete the project entail demolition, including removal of functionally obsolete buildings, basements, foundations, and surface features to prepare the site for redevelopment, as well as lead and asbestos survey and abatement, Baseline Environmental Assessment and due care activities. The development is expected to generate a minimum of $900,000 in new investment in Phase I, and an additional $3-4 million in Phase II.
