Project Description: The Stolthaven New Orleans terminal completed Phase 1 of a new project at the end of 2020 to increase the efficiency of the facility. This project was implemented to make the process more automated and less manual driven. In order to achieve this goal, new instrumentation and electronic equipment such as alarm systems, high-level alarm gauging equipment, and automatic valves were added to existing tanks. Several new tanks were also added in order to accommodate the customers' specifications. This project also included a new building to house the control room for the automation equipment. The automation building (PLC) is the center of the automation terminal process. The functionality of the terminal is being run by the automation equipment and instrumentation. In case of system failure, the automation equipment will shut down the process and issue warnings throughout the facility. The overall project will take several years to complete to make this facility more efficient and also more modern and competitive in this industry to bring in more customers and jobs to the area. In addition to new tanks being added, there are upgrades to existing equipment (such as flares, rail tracks, waste water treatment system improvements, storm water drainage system improvements) in order to adapt to the product process flow from the new tanks. The goal is to make the terminal more efficient due to the automation system which gives this terminal a more competitive edge for the future.
