Project Description: Magnolia Power proposes to construct a new, highly-efficient combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) with a capacity of approximately 700 MW (nameplate) located at 26220 River Road, Plaquemine, Iberville Parish, Louisiana to provide contracted capacity and energy to local rural electric cooperatives. The Magnolia Power CCGT will be a 1x1 single shaft power block consisting of a GE Combustion Turbine Generator (CTG), Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) with duct burners, Steam Turbine (ST), and SSS Clutch. Emissions controls will consist of dry low NOx combustors with SCR and CO catalysts for further emission reductions. From the start of operations in 2025, the GE technology chosen by Magnolia Power will have the fuel flexibility to utilize up to 50% hydrogen as a next generation fuel source to further reduce carbon emissions. Because it will have the capability to use hydrogen when hydrogen becomes commercially available, the Magnolia Power Generating Station is uniquely positioned to accommodate the dynamic nature of the energy transitionas laid out in the Governors Climate Action Plan. Other than items listed above, some of the other equipment that will be purchased includes the following: demineralized water storage tank (750,000 gallons) and transfer of demineralized water; service water/fire water storage tank (750,000 gallons); process wastewater storage tank (300,000 gallons); generator step-up transformer; steel piping; auxiliary boiler; complete fire protection and detection systems including water storage, distribution piping network, hydrants, motor-driven and diesel-driven supply pumps, jockey pump, smoke detectors, and CO detectors; and, a 2 MW emergency diesel generator. A full list of equipment to be purchased is set forth in the attached Breakdown of Purchases. This project will create nine (9) FT jobs.
