Subsidy Tracker Individual Entry

The value of the subsidy package and additional data are taken from Kentucky's Financial Incentives Database (listed under International Paper, current owner of the plant); available on line at: http://www.thinkkentucky.com/fireports/FISearch.aspx
The subsidy package value is included in Kentucky's Financial Incentives Database under International Paper Company, current owner of the plant. Media articles did not cite the full subsidy value but reported that the city provided a water connection for the plant and that the company received subsidies from Kentucky Rural Economic Development Authority (tax credits based on investment costs and employee wages, in Kentucky known as assessment fees). In 1999, the MacMillan Bloedel plant was bought by Weyerhaeuser and was subsequently bought by International Paper in 2008. The main Subsidy Tracker data lists the subsidy package separately in the 1995 entry for Kentucky Rural Economic Development Authority under International Paper Company. For news reports on the elements of the subsidy package, see for example: Stewart Jennison, "Paper mill to locate in Henderson, employ 90," Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer, August 12, 1994.
