Source of Data: The value of the 2010 subsidy package and the job and investment projections are taken from: Steve Ivey, "Ford to invest $600 million in plant expansion," Business First of Louisville, December 10, 2010.
Notes: The $240 million figure is the total of the subsidies originally awarded in 2007 and then expanded in 2008 and 2010. (The total value is listed in the main Subsidy Tracker data in a 2007 entry for the Kentucky Jobs Retention Act). In 2007, Kentucky agreed to provide Ford with $66 million over 10 years for retention of 5,117 jobs and investment of $105 million. The funds came from a newly created Kentucky Jobs Retention Act (these details are taken from a July 28, 2007 press release issued by Gov. Ernie Fletcher; available online at:
(click here)). The agreement was amended in 2008 , awarded Ford up to $180 million. The 2008 subsidies were granted to "protect the jobs of more than 5,000 Ford employees" (see the October 30, 2008 press release issued by Gov. Steve Beshear; available online at:
(click here)). In 2010, the agreement was amendment again and Ford received an additional $60 million, for the total of up to $240 million. The main Subsidy Tracker data also list seven training awards totaling about $1 million for 2010 and 2011.
