THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE PROPOSED WORK IS TO REFINE AND ENHANCE THE NASA EOS MODIS AND S-NPP VIIRS CRYOSPHERE ALGORITHMS AND DATA PRODUCTS. SPECIFICALLY WE WILL DEVELOP ALGORITHM REFINEMENTS TO INCREASE THE ACCURACY OF SNOW-COVER SEA ICE COVER AND ICE SURFACE TEMPERATURE (IST) PRODUCTS REDUCE ERRORS OF COMMISSION AND OMISSION AND REDUCE INSTANCES OF CLOUD/SNOW CONFUSION. WE ALSO PLAN TO DEVELOP CLOUD GAP-FILLED DATA LAYERS FOR THE SNOW PRODUCTS. OTHER PLANS INCLUDE DEVELOPMENT OF A LAYER OF SEA ICE CONCENTRATION AND GLOBAL LAKE ICE.
