The original subsidy value for Hynix (previously Hyundai) was estimated at $31.3 million (see "Hyundai in Eugene betting billions; Oregon's Silicon Boom," The Sunday Oregonian, July 30, 1995). The 2008 estimate included: $66 million in Enterprise Zone property tax breaks; $35 million in savings on below-cost power from the Eugene Water & Electric Board; $9 million in tax credits for pollution control equipment; $6 million in savings on sewage charges from the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission; $2 million in road improvements from Lane County; $2 million in corporate tax credits; and $1 million in worker training.
