The value and the breakdown of the brownfield tax credits are taken from: Brian Nearing, "Power plant bill for cleanup top in state," Albany Times-Union, February 2, 2012. The information on the payment-in-lieu-of-taxes is taken from: "Empire Generating expects to break ground on $700M plant next week," The Business Review (Albany, New York), March 5, 2008.
Empire Gen received a total of $87,035,916 through a Brownfield Cleanup Program Tax Credit--$84,000 in 2008 for site cleanup and $86,951,916 in 2010 for building a power plant at the site. The main Subsidy Tracker data lists both subsidies in the 2008 and 2010 entries for the program. The company also received a PILOT agreement that provided property tax savings, the value of which has not been reported.
