Subsidy Tracker Individual Entry
addition of product lines to auto assembly plant
The subsidy value and breakdown came from a November 13, 2001 press released issued by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation; online at http://www.michiganadvantage.org/Press-Releases/State-Encourages-General...
Orion Township offered GM a 12-year, $17 million property tax abatement and the state provided a $59.5 million Single Business Tax Credit, both to encourage the company to add product lines to its Lake Orion assembly plant. Initially, GM announced job cuts at Orion but in October 2002 announced expanded Pontiac production there. In 2009 GM was awarded a much bigger subsidy to add small car production at the plant (see separate entry). Overlaps with main Subsidy Tracker data: none.
