Project Description: Michigan Business Development Program - Detroit Diesel Corporation, a member of the Daimler group, is a leading manufacturer of heavy duty diesel engines for the commercial truck market headquartered in Detroit. DDC plans to expand manufacturing and assembly capacity at its current facility in Redford Township to include production of the new asymmetric turbocharger as well as truck transmission assembly. The company plans to invest up to $77.2 million and create 50 new jobs, resulting in a $250,000 Michigan Business Development Program incentive. DDC is moving the turbocharger production to Michigan from its current location in China. A sister facility in Mexico was also considered. Redford Township has offered a 12-year property tax abatement valued at $6.6 million.
