Subsidy Tracker Individual Entry
The value of the subsidy package and the job and wage projections are taken from Brian Bandell, "UM gets $80M for genetic research," South Florida Business Journal, February 1, 2008; available online at; http://www.bizjournals.com/southflorida/stories/2008/01/28/daily54.html
The state committed to the University of Miami, a private institution, $80 million through the Innovation Incentive Grant program for establishing the Miami Institute for Human Genomics (later the Hussman Institute). The total value of the package does not include an equal match by the University and its donors and $37 million annually from the federal government for research. The award is also listed in the main Subsidy Tracker data under the Innovation Incentive Fund.
